Default casting blues :-(

Friday night when I went to AI to do some surf fishing I had my 10 and a new 12 footer surf rods ...loaded with 8oz of lead and a big ol bunker head. Walking out into the dark water with my waders on I HEAVED THE MIGHTY MIX into the darkness thinking that it traveled out way way past the breakers ...I was satified.....then the morning light came and changed my whole perpective..... I loaded up again with with the light on the horizon showing me where it was it would land ....and I HEAVED the great load out into the churning ocean.....only to watch it plop a short distance from where I was standing in the surf.....Reelled in again and repeated with the same results.......OMG I think I could have put the stuff in my hand and heaved it out as far as I was casting. I really need to work on casting that 12 footer with a lot of weight....its a whole new beast than my shorter rods and light weights....back to the drawing boards

When I cast, I can feel it hit the water. Also, I can feel how much line is being taken from the reel. Are you using a spinning reel?

Why you’re getting to old to cast anyway.

For those that are not familiar Mark Edwards can cast a spinning outfit upwards of 750+ feet. He uses a 1508 and some sort of Shimano Thunnus Reel.

You have any time this weekend for a quick trip?
