Default About time

Went out fishing on a buddy of mines boat from the mouth of the Eastern Bay to the other side of the bay (just south of the South River) and Caught one keeper 33 inches. We were out 2 weeks ago and it looked like the depth finder was filled up with fish. This time looked like a desert with just an occasional fish. all in all a nice day to be on the Bay. This is my 8th time fishing this Spring for large fish and this is the first one. What a weird spring this has been . Last year had close to half a dozen fish by this time. Released most of them kept one....deeeeeep hooked wouldn't have made it so it made it to the pan just fine

Went fishing the other nite(tues night) from a beach in our neighborhood.....on the Eastern Bay. Never fished this early from the beach in our neighborhood. Usually the best times are in the summer and fall when the fish are in shallow water. Beautiful night not a breath of air in fact was in shorts and flip flops.

Weird night for fishing . Get there and the tide is way out in fact it didn't come in hardly at all the whole night. High tide was at 12:00 and it was still way out at 1am. Saw a pic of someone who caught a 18 croaker on the Eastern bay (ended up only catching a small rocky)Around 11 pm I saw and heard something swimming in the water that I have never seen before. 3 things were swimming out about 50 yrds off shore and they were all snorting kinda loud walked out on the rock jetty to get a better look and I really couldn't see them to well just the tops of heads and even then my little flash light wasn't very good . Was wondering if anyone ever heard of critters like that... .Nutra? Otters? Muskrats? They were really loud in fact heard them in the boat basin after they circled past the rock pile. They kept making all the ducks move and quack........ they scared me to the point where I even got out my knife when I was out on the rock pile....cause I could hear them just couldn't see them.

Probably otters, Tom. They will come up and snort. No need for the knife unless you plan in grabbing one. They will bite.

Are there any beavers around the salt waters here. I know when I used to trout fish in PA I had beavers scare the brown stuff out of me on more than one occasion.

They used to just sneak on up and start whacking their tails in the water like 5 feet from you. Also had one that tried to climb in the row boat I was in, that was fun watch 3 adults abandon ship because we where being boarded by a beaver.

The first thought in my mind was CHessy but then these guys were just too small. They were certainly one of the loudest critters I have heard on the Bay. That would be cool if they were Otters. I thought Otters were solitary there were defiantly 3 and maybe a few more there. It was just a weird thing to see on a night where there wasn't a sound and the water was glass to see these things come swimming by grunting as they swam away.............
