Great to fish with ya'll again Sam!

Tell your Pop I'll bring the burgers and grill next time, traveled light this time.

It was interesting trying to yak out with the breakers the way they were. How many crashes, 4? Good thing I tied my swim trunks up! Ah, but I never lost a hand-hold on the paddle (it was tied to the yak).

However, I did see last night that SOMEONE got dumped way out there and I saw a light coming from under the surface. Bet he lost hold of the yak. Hmmm, wonder WHO that was.....

You can count on me to do a dumb human trick every time.

Last night it was another good one.

I finally got past the surf break and was paddling for all I was worth because the breakers kept coming.

Suddenly, I felt something in the back of my lower leg.

I looked down and realized that one (of many) of the waves I crashed through had dislodged the weight and hook from their tie-down.

Here I had an 8 dragging in the water, along with the reel's drag, pulling on the hook trying to bury it in my leg.

The hook in my leg was the only thing holding the line.

Worse, I HAD to keep paddlin because of the breakers coming at me.

Man, that sucked......

Finally got to calmer water and pulled the hook out.

I'd recommend to anyone fishing at night to be SURE and bring along warm clothes and Gore-Tex or rain suit. That spray soaking us got pretty cold out there last night, even though the air temp was in the low 70's.

Remember I told ya I was bound to do something else off the wall before morning?

Well, it happened. Ya'll left the air pumps and I went over for a shower. I realized that I didn't have my cell phone, last I saw it was on the chair.

Yep, deflate the tires and headed down the beach.

Soon as I passed the BP I went to the surf cliff edge and I remembered seeing a little flag on a stick laying on the ground just above where we were. The tide was coming up fast, eating the wall. I saw the flag, it was hard because of the heavy spray. Went a little further and saw where we were. Got out and spent 20 minutes digging around. The cliff was rapidly eroding and I was getting zapped with the splashes.

Finally, I found it with the water just 2 feet away!

Geez, I didn't leave the island until 3:20....

See? I told ya I'd do something else.

Hey guys, Water temp is still quite warm. I would say it is still in the lower 70's. Went out surfing the other day and was very comfortable in trunks. Summer water temps still hanging around.

Went fishing last night for 6 hours. Really not much wind and 6 oz held fine. Caught a mess of doggies and skates. Surprisingly, a very nice night to fish.

I think I am going to bring the yak out of its seasonal retirement and give it one last go on Sunday for sharks. Taking the family and hopefully get a hook up,,,who knows, maybe a stray beast may still be out there. Besides that, I need the exercise.

Fished today with the family and was joined with Sam and family earlier in the afternoon. Figured I would yak out one last time until next summer for some sharks and managed to land a medium size sand tiger. Landed during the day and wasnt sure what I had on the line. Didnt fight like a sandbar or ray and was quite puzzled. It shook her head several times as I brought her in and then was suprised it was a sandtiger. Sandtiger during daylight,,,made my day.

Default Nice

That is a great looking shark. It is a nice surprise considering it was during the day and Sand Tigers are generally nocturnal sharks. I'll stick that catch in my reports on the 101.1FM fishing report tomorrow morning.

Hey Chomper, Got that one with my penn 6/0 spooled with 40 lb test. Those sandtigers sure dont put up much of fight. Felt him shake his head several times and made a short run as I got her close to the beach. I was just happy to get one .
