Default Casting setup for sharks?

Just bought the 40HV at Basspro and the OM rated for 6-12oz..is this enough to land a nice size shark from the beach while casting???

A search revealed these items....

Daiwa Sealine HV on ebay:
eBay: Daiwa Sealine-X X-40HV Reel SL-X40HV, Brand New In Box! (item 7147695768 end time Jan-26-07 07:39:39 PST)

OM at basspro:
Saltwater Fishing Gear - Rods - Surf Rods - Bass Pro Shops

Might have to get me an OM Cape Point heaver....
Put some 25# on the HV, it'll give ya 400 yds to play with....
Use it for whatever you want to land (within reason).

That's plenty of rod and reel for casting to charks.

Steve, for the $ those CP's are nice but after a season of use I'm finishing the grips and swapping out the seat, there is a little too much play in there and it got more significant as the year went on, the conventional was fine but the spinner I have got loose. I also use a clamp on the conventional though so that probably helped. They are heavy but will throw at least a full pound payload.

Yeah the real seat is the reson i didnt get the CP and went with the regular OM heaver...i got close to 450-500 yards of 20# line on the reel...i bought a spool of 25# and 30# to experiment with durring the summer!

it is big enough but you can still easily get spooled by a big shark that runs straight out. you can fill half the spool with 50 lb. braid like power pro and mono on the last half to cast with. you'll have like 600 yds or more. you can put all braid on there for the extra capacity but I hate casting with braid.

casting with braid is a love hate relationship, it is either dead on awesome or blow up after blow up. but yes you should do just fine with the toothy ones.
