Talking Who's fish is it????

We were fishing today, I had several break offs and lost my gear. A buddy hooked my line and landed my line with a fish attached. Is the fish mine or his?

A. Mine

B. His

I say it's his, but only for the sake of telling the story. He is not entitled to claim a fish story on the actual size of the fish.

Just my young opinion.

Man, that was a lucky "break", no pun intended.....
Sounds like it's his fish, you lost the rig.
If it weren't for him, you would not have got the rig back.
But heck, I say each of ya take a fillet !

I say he gets the credit for saving the fishes life, therefore...his fish.

Default You have to touch

This rule goes back to when you first learn to fish- you have to touch the fish in some manner to claim you actually caught it. I lost a nice blue in the wash as I was leaning to pick it out in the AI surf last Saturday. I told my wife that it was a good fight, but I did not actually catch it. Same rule applies here.

Default Need A Third Catagory

It's nobody's. You gotta release that fish and let him go. You hooked him and lost him and your friend didn't catch him either, he caught some fishing line. It's a draw and the fish wins.

Just kidding.

Default the fish did win

The fish did win, but it has been a great story. The score board with was 5-0 for fin fish. If the catch goes to me it would be 6-0... If not then big Jan gets one and he isn't blanked. We have had a great time with this, he felt the same catching this fish as when he caught a sea gull.
