Default Well, I finally did it

I'm the proud new owner of a 12' Tica Heaver.

I've officially crossed over to the dark side.

I even bought waders.

My wife is laughing at me.....

Cool, Bob! Soon you'll be out there with us, sitting in the sand, relaxing and looking at the stars. It's hard to beat.

Hey, at least this lifestyle costs less to maintain than a boat!
And you can build a fire to keep warm too!

That's a nice rod!!!! Oliver says the Ticas are the best.

I'm glad some of you guys are in a good mood about your equipment. I took my Penn reel apart after the tourney. I got it all cleaned up, greased (yes I had the right kind) and put back together, but it wasn't right. I then made the huge mistake of asking my husband to take a look at it - adamantly mentioning the teeny, tiny dog spring. My husband buys damaged tools like nail guns, etc. on E-Bay all the time - takes them apart and then rebuilds them - ending up with $200 - $300 tools for under $10 and some hard work. He simply doesn't like fishing or anything to do with it. What was I thinking?? He, of course, lost the spring and gave me the reel back in pieces. So now I have to wait until I get a replacement spring. When the part comes, I'll try putting it back together myself one more time, but if it isn't right this time - I'll send it over to Oliver.

I wouldn't mind the wait except for the fact that is the only reel I have to use with my 12' rod! But, before you guys feel too bad for me - just remember that I am "Oma" and fishing is only one of my many interests. The piano my father bought for me when I was little has been at a refinishers for over three years now - we just can't seem to get him to finish the job. I guess my husband was feeling sorry for me, because he just bought a Suzuki Digital Mini Grand for me. That's why I didn't run right out with my tourney money and buy more fishing equipment. I was already feeling guilty about all the money I've spent on fishing gear this year - remember I'm outfitting for freshwater fishing as well as surf. I'll just lay low for a month or two and then you will see my post for a new surf rig - that is unless I can con Oliver out of one of his!!!!!!

I have the 12' Tica with the Penn Mag 525 and I love the setup. It's a great rod for the price..I'm sure you will like it.. and Bob, welcome to the other side .

Yeah that penn 525 is going to be it....

I think there's one coming for Christmas....

Oma, that Suzuki's a nice piano, and digitals are great cos there's zero maintenance. Good luck with the reel.

Default Dark side or just a different chapter in the same book

I enjoy fishing. Each type of fishing has its enjoyable aspects. Dark side, nope, another chapter in your fishing book.
