We had a great turnout for the striper tourney and look forward to the next one,,,Sam, Bev, and Terry did an awsome job in organizing the event,,,Great job
!I'll run this report until the end of November and then go into a monthly format for December unless things bust loose. Last week saw some fish caught during the tourney,,,there are a few big blues around with occasionally a large striper mixed in with quite a few smaller stripers,,,there is still plenty of time to catch some fish,,,so, GO FISH!,,,feel free to post your reports here, fish or no fish.

But, Dave, please wait until that water receeds on A.I. Somehow I picture you getting so excited that you will drive out to the beach and just not notice that it happens to be missing. I still can't get over those pictures on the other thread. My husband is concerned for the ponies. Are they safe???

First of all the ponies have been in a lot worst weather and will be fine. Second I will be out on AI either late Wed night or early Thur. day till my wife starts to wounder where I'm at, that should be sometime Friday when she knows that I'm gone
. So if you all want fish that's going to be the start of it. ( man I better get one or I will not live this down

I actually managed to get Poppa to drive to A.I. this morning. We walked over to see how things look. There was about 30" of sand covering the crest of the walkover and the water was coming up fairly close to the end of the boardwalk path. There were some guys coming off the beach. I asked if they had caught anything and they said, "Yes - cold." I walked over to a couple of other guys who commented that their sputniks weren't holding and that the water was still churning too much and was way too murky. I'm still going to give it a try in the morning. We were there today right about what would have been normal high tide and there was enough room to set up. Sorry about the black mark on the photos. My hair was blowing and kept getting in the way.

Fished Assateague yesterday, 11/26 from about 2pm-5pm. No luck. The grass was terrible and it appeared to be more like dune grass as it looked like straw and some of it had roots. I guess it's from the beach erosion from the storm. Anyway it would foul your line and down the beach it would race. Noticed I was getting little knots in my braid that were impossible to get out. I assume this was from the grass getting hung up in the line. Never had that problem with mono. Finally, I've attached a pic for the fun of it of some of the wildlife in the crap that got caught in my line. This summer we started to notice that just about every clump of grass we pulled in would have some hermit crabs in it. No need to keep them as they don't live very long (unlike the domesticated ones you find on the boardwalk in O.C.) but the kids think it's cool.

fished AI from friday afternoon till 8 saturday night with a few friends. as a group we caughts 6 stripers 5 throwbacks ranging from 18-26 inches one keeper that i caught 38 inches. we also had a huge blue caught by doug 30 inches as well as a flounder 17 inches caught by doug also. most of the catches were made on a lower tide, the high was nasty lots of grass and hard to hold bottom with the grass around your lines, here are a few photos.

Very good pics and reports, Ron! I'm glad you were able to catch fish in all that mess.
