Exclamation Weekend Nor'easter 10/7-10/9

Looks like a weekend of stormy weather to roll in. It will definitely churn up the surf. Not sure if this benefits or hurts the surf fishing this weekend. Could be moderate erosion at this time, but might change as the impulse looks rather potent.

How will the full moon affect the situation? Could be some overwash on parts of A.I. if the storm decides to hang around for a while. Let's hope for the best!

GL everyone hitting the sand this week! Be safe.

Steve

Yeah all the forecasts changed in the last 2 hours, looks like strong NE blow all weekend into Monday now. I couldn't be more pissed.

Question

Sorry guys, wasn't trying to ruin anyone's weekend. Mother Nature is responsible for that. I am just trying to find out whether a full moon coupled with a Noreaster improves condiitons for stripers or just makes it a complete washout. I'm new to striper fishing and will try my luck later this month. I just heard folks say that stormy surf = big fish. Any truth?

yes but holding bottom is the biggest problem, tho I would still say it's to early for large.

go for the ol'hand toss! I threw 12 n bait like that, pretty funny to watch but better then breaking rods, which I've had happen too. Gotta watch getting hooked on the release! I just walked about a hundred yards in free spool and then came back to my rod and then "pitched" the sinker and head with a good crow hop. Not effective at catching but it got me in the water when I didn't have the gear to throw the big stuff.

If you have lighter line or braid spool it up, that will help you hold on lesser weights. Also, walk up the beach about a hunnerd yards and cast, by the time you get back to your holder you should have grabbed bottom.

Get some 8oz sputnicks and pray they grab bottom without grabbing line as well.

ok, that is more in line with what I saw before. Friday will be a crapper but Sat night looks up and into Sunday which went from a 8kt SE to a 15kt NE, still time to change though! Nor'easter IMO is torrential rain and 40-50mph gusts with severe errosion. Friday will dirty the water up, hopefully the fish won't push out of the surf with the swell coming in, but they probably will, I just hope they come back quick.
