Thumbs up Thanks Bev and Terry

Great Job, Bev and Terry... That really puts things into perspective.

And an excellent job to all of those who participated. It is a long tournament and it is not for the weary (like me). I really have to hand it to Phil and Coop. They put in a LOT of hours with no camper just like a lot of others I didn't fishi with.

Oliver was outstanding, as expected. I wish I could have spent more time with the other anglers like last year.. Maybe during the Striper tourney. I can't fish that one, so you all might just have a chance!

Hi there everyone this is not Bev this time its Terry sorry im not under my own screen name but had a problem logging on as OCSurfangler.
I really hope everyone enjoyed the Tourny.

There is a few things I think needs to be made a little more clearer on how the tournament is operated and handled.

1) Read the rules that is on the back of the application and on the conformation. Rule O All measurements will determined by Tail Length. In case of a tie first fish measured wins.
For example: Fisherman A catches a 28" rock on fri morning and fisherman B catches a 28" rock on sunday fisherman A wins. Fisherman B would have to catch a 28 1/8 to win that catagory.

2) Bev and I try to hold this Tournament in a fair and honest way.
There as has been a few remarks that the payouts were less than what they thought it should be. We have listed on the internet the excact payouts to everyone that won. Bev and I don't make any money from the entance fees, we hope to make our money by selling bait, tackle, and rods and reels at Harbor Tackle.
The first year of the tournament I think there was 26-27 entrants and 100% of the money went to 1 person who won with a blue fish. Bev and I footed the bill for all expenses as well as the 2nd tournament.
If you were to fish the Frank And Fran tournament in NC you could only win one catagory but Bev and I felt that as hard as most people fish in this event they should be rewarded by winning multiple cats. For the catagories that are blank, by no one winning them, the money is split equally between the winners.
We have expenses to host this event or it can never happen.
Here is a suggestion someone pay for the expenses and we will give out 100% of the available money that's fair i think.
3) I must say that I am sorry to Manson Jones for the mix-up in who caught the king fish bev just got it mixed up . Manson caught the first 14" king fish.
4) Sometimes it takes us a couple of days to respond to e-mails or post so please be patient with we try to answer as soon as we can.
5) Please if you have questions about anything concerning the tournament we are only a phone call away the number is 410-213-9365.
6) we welcome all fisherman to this tournament not just our customers but also our non customers, it's for everybody. Theres a lot of fishermen that fish this tourny. that has never even put a foot in our doors and we don't care about that, we do it for the love of it.

In closing I wish to thank all anglers that fished and hope they had a good time. Bev and I have talked about all of this and we have decided that this may be the last red drum tourny. All of this has honestly hurt us,
so we would rather not have the tournament and keep all the friends that we have met through the last 5 years.

WE LOVE YOU ALL
Terry

Oh no! And I am just getting warmed up! Your biggest RD tournement so far! I hope you get a few months R&R and reconsider. We all look forward to this for months ahead of time.

You guys did an excellent job and there will always be snags (no pun intended). If I can help out in any other way, please don't hesitate to ask. As a matter of fact, I will come over tomorrow and get you back up and running with your proper screen name.

Default like what sam said...

i hope you guys reconsider...this was the first time i entered your tournament and i had a blast...catching my first red. my other two buddies, one of whom also caught their first red during your tournament (although not in the tourney) are also looking forward to next year.

you guys did a great job and i hope you have another one. i'm assuming some people get $$$ in their eyes, and ruins a perfectly good thing. the rules are stated and it was also stated that the prizes depended upon the number of entrants (although based on 100).

hope to see you soon (which means i must be fishing ),

Add me to the list that hopes there will be another drum tourney next year. I think it's a pretty cool idea, and will enter again next year if there is one! I had a great time!

No complaints from me...the rules are spelled out clearly.

I agree with everyone else....don't let a few bad apples that don't understand rules or understand what goes into a tournament ruin it....This was an absolute blast even though I didn't catch a fish. Just the opportunity to get out there, put a few cold ones back and enjoy the fellowship with other anglers was worth it to me!!!!!!!! Bev and Terry, hands down the most fun I've ever had NOT catching fish was becuase of the people your tournament brought together!!!!!!!!

Bev and Terry,

I did not fish the tournement, perhaps next year. One thing I learned after teaching 38 years, You can please most of the people most of the time, but cant please them all, ever. The time energy and effort you put into the tournament is appreciated by most of the people. Thanks for hosting the event, and I hope to fish it next year.

Please don't let it die. I already put in my time off for next year!

It's your tournament run it how you like, make some money off of it. I don't think making $20-$25 a head is unreasonable and $125.00 for the entry isn't a deal breaker for most. I'm sure between all the guys in the tourney we could come up with a couple more sponsors as well. With the # of tica's that are fished and the # you sell I would think they are an easy target to pony up at least $1,000 or more.

Just some ideas, don't let it die. If you need some help outside of the judging just email Sam, he'll know who to contact.

OMG !@! Not a next year !?!
We think you both have done an awesome job in the last 5 years... nothing easy about doing what you have done!!! You deserved to be paid although you have not...
Have fished the tourny since you started it and enjoyed every minute of it! Win, lose or draw! Camper or no camper! North or south, just don't matter!
Anyway Bev and Terry... we are really sorry that someone had to say things that has hurt you guys after all you have done!
Hang Tuff!!

Bev and Terry- you guys know my feelings. I had to call Bev as I do not have enough time to type what I needed to say. Needless to say it is my favorite time of entire year. I think you have gained far more friends through this than you could possibly lose. Maybe a lost friendship over this was really not worth it anyway. The amount of time and effort you have spent and the fruits of your labor just now coming to fruition. Speaking of fruit there are always bad apples and sour grapes in any human grouping. We Drummers are a fruity bunch anyhow. Drum tourney at AI-who would have thought. Talk about thinking out of the box. The fact that you paid out of pocket for first 2 tourneys says how much you wanted it to work and by golly it is working. As you can see from this thread there is lots of love here. From a pure business standpoint I think this thing has put you guys on the map or at least for me. Always great to know you have the best bait around. Let things settle for a while and please please reconsider and let us know what we can do to help.

Dave

PS You have helped establish some very fond memories. The Nascar race when the beach opened that Sunday 2 years ago was the funniest thing I have ever seen. I was laughing so hard I was in tears.
