Exclamation Drum Tournament-- Its On Baby!

The Drum Tournament is on and quite a few anglers out on Assategue last night. Magically at the stroke of midnight you saw red lights up and down the beach click on and fluorescent green pool lights beginning casting into the Atlantic.

Awesome conditions and now as the tide begins to rise, we wait for the initial reports of who's catching what...

Sam should have just shut down the site for the weekend, everyone is on the beach for 72 hours. Man am I jealous.

They are on the low for the next 6 hours or so. They should have a sweet dusk high tide all weekend. Good conditions today, wind kicks up soon though.

I think big fish on Friday takes the whole thing. Lookin at 18-25mph on Sat and Sun. Gonna need 12's to hold and we all know how fun that is to cast. They better fish hard today through the night.

Henry Prince landed the 50.5 and Fred Logman? got the 44.5 those are the two that I measured other then that at the time I headed off the beach no one had any other fish ( King, Blue ect... ) all fish were landed from 4am to about 7am after that by 10 nothing. One other note wile heading to the beach this morning my engine finally blow up. not a good start to the day..

I had to call it quits for tonight. The wind was whipping from the S/W and the water was pretty high. I couldn't hold my eyes open much longer and Coop and Phil were heading out to get some sleep. Didn't want to risk getting stung by the Ranger so here I am... No drum yet for us. I'm going to check the weather in the morning to see if it is worth going back out tomorrow.

Default So far, fishing results from the 5th Annual Red Drum Tournament

So far 4 red drum have been caught during our 5th Annual Red Drum Tournament. All were caught Friday AM. The largest 50 1/2" was taken by Henry Prince, next was Mark Hudson with a 48 1/2", Mag Megee 47", and coming up last was Frederick Lagman 44". Saw 2 other red drum caught yesterday late afternoon, although they were not in the tournament and 1 taken Saturday morning by a non participant. A 14" kingfish Friday afternoon by Gary Morris was scored.
