Nice drum Ben, I hit Ai monday without even a hit, Tried again tuesday, was planning to go out early but couldnt get my butt outta bed when the alarm went off, on my drive down to Ai it was raining cats and dogs, all I kept thinkin was how much of an idiot i was to even attempt to go out there, as I got there the rain had stopped a little, got out to air down my tires and got swarmed by skeeters, said the heck with it and drove out with out airing down, I went about three miles past the bullpen and set up shop, seas were calm and I found a nice hole (got to see some porpoises sail through the air about a hundred yards out), as for the weather seem to clear up, through some spot out on my two taco rods and nodda hit for over two hours, put fresh bait on and threw out again, half hour later just as I was going to check baits, both taco rods started screamin loosend the drag all the way on one and hoped I would not get spooled, set the hook on the other and FISH ON after a few minutes, I beached the toothy critter, believe it or not a small spinner (38) inches, went to take pics and battery in camera did mid pic(sorry) as for the other taco I had figured I had lost it the line was loose and no movement, reeled in the slack adn set the hook just for the heck of it, sure enough I felt a nice yank back and again FISH ON this one came to shore rather quick here it was another spinner this time 24 inches, I thought these guys were all back down south again, guess not all just the bigger ones. I was hoping for the bronze beauties (never caught one) but I was entertained by the small spinners, dont know how I landed the second one on a drum rig but anyhow I will be out next mon, Might consider puttin the rods away for the year if I dont get some real action soon.

Putting the rods away for the year? Striper season is just around the corner!

Those sharks you caught were most likely dogfish. They can have black tips as well.

I have noticed that the bigger they get the more dangerous the mouth looks... or are we talking 2 different types of shark?

Two different types of dogfish. One is a spiney dogfish and one is a smooth. Can't remember which ones have the teeth at the moment.

Dogfish have very fine teeth but nothing to hurt however, Atlantic sharpnose look just like spiny dogs except with teeth. First one I ever caught went to grab hook and almost got bit. Then I had to look it up.
