Man Dave, that is a beautiful Picture....You can bring the durango here and park it at my house while you swap engines if you want!!!! I'm sure I can help lighten the load in it

. Ok, onto my report. Got to
AI about 11:00pm Friday night. Dad was there, camper was set up, man those pull through spaces on the bayside are TINY!!!!!! Can't park in the grass and barely fit the truck and forerunner in the space (get yelled at if you park on the grass) So we're set up everyone is inside and the Girls want to take a Midnight drive on the beach. Well I load them up and head on out. about 1/2-1 mile down the beach I see a truck I recognize pass me, I throw it in reverse, when I realize the person kept going I put it back in drive and turned around. Pulled up and talked to Scott for a few min before sam showed up. Unfortunately they didn't have reports of anything but Skates and some small sharks. They got to meet my two girls (kinda cause they stayed in the truck) and then we all parted ways. I ended up driving the girls down to the Bull Pen turned around and headed back to the camper. It was probably 1am by the time I got into bed, and thanks to a sore back and a nasty cold, I was up again around 3:50 coughing. Decided it was really a sign from God that I needed to get up at 4am and head out fishing. I wanted to mark the state line on my GPS for the tournament this weekend so I headed all the way down. Still dark and high tide, I couldn't see the waves to read the break. I decided to just find the first place someone else had fished (looked for tiremarks) and backed on in. BIG waves breaking right on the beach....Absolutely no waves breaking further out. If this was a Cut it was the BIGGEST cut I've ever seen. I fished for about 2 hours before a Shockleader knot gave way (I know I said in another post that I'd never had one fail, well I have now) while casting. 10oz and bunker chunk coming free mid cast is not a good thing to have happen when you already have a sore back. This laid me up for the morning. It hurt to breathe. I packed up and headed to the camper knowing I wouldn't be able to cast anymore and honestly worried about the back for the tournament. I took some advil and voila....back was workable again. Headed back out and ran into Derf, who we set up about 150 yards down the beach from. NASTY NASTY NASTY day on sat. 20-25kt winds straight down the beach, rain on and off, big surf, 10oz Frogs to hold bottom. And worst of all, no Bites. Milt from P&S was out and fished with us for a while, then Fish On! (Richard) showed up as the family had tolerated enough of the nasty weather and we were leaving. I'll let him give up his fishing report for the times I wasn't there. The skies appeared to clear up as soon as we left. I took the girls over to the Crabbing Bridge at the old ferry landing for some crabbing. What a blast that was, easily caught 50 crabs between the 4 of us, unfortunately all but two were undersize. Who cares...the girls had a blast catching them. Kept the two in hopes of a bunch more, but no dice ended up throwing the two back to get bigger. Headed back to the camper with plans of heading back out fishing later and I decided to read my book for a few minutes, well wrong move, I was out in 2 min and slept for a few hours. Got up when everyone was out at a campfire and cooking up some hotdogs. Got up around 6am on sun, headed out and caught back up with Richard who gereously made another pot of coffee. We fished pretty hard with nothing to show for about 2 hours before I headed back to pick up the family. As I was getting ready to leave i noticed a fish jump. Richard and I watched a School of something about 100 yards past the outer bar jump and spash, then as quickly as it showed up, it disappeared. Once loaded up, we headed straight back out. What a beautiful day to spend on the beach The girls played and played in the sand, Ciara got to lay out and get some sun and I got to fish. Richard caught a little 12" king as we were pulling back up. Tide was low and it appeared we had a small break in the bar in front of us....We fished hard, checking baits every 15-20 min, keeping fresh bait on the rigs with nothing. Sad as it was, I even had half a peeler crab on my line which managed to come back in unscathed for two bait checks. Around 2:00 the action picked up. Dad managed an 18" Bluefish, and so did Richard. From that point on, there was no rest for the weary. It was a constant battle to keep bait on the hooks. No more fish caught, but rods dancing like it was a party. At 3:30 we packed up and headed out (needed to leave
AI by 5pm to get the girls home) Was a rough weekend for fishing, but the weather yesterday completely made up for it. I know, this was a long post but I figured I'd get it in. Nice meeting Everyone this weekend, great to see Sam and Scott again.....I'll be out and ready to fish hard at midnight on Thur night......
