Default Fishing reports for August 2 - 8

Finally the water is warming and we are seeing reports of sandbar sharks,,,may even here a blacktip or spinner here shortly,,,when conditions are right we are still seeing plenty of kings,,,there are still some good reports of croakers, spot, flounder and snapper blues.

Get your feet in the sand, have fun, and go fish!

Fishing reports for aug 2 and 3, on the second managed a lot of dogfish and croaker and a few kings no shark runs though, winds were from the west, so the beach was hot but bugs were not to bad, tried again yesterday, got out to AI again the winds were from the west, the airpumps were down again, and very few people on the beach because of that, got out on the beach and just started setting up, then swarmed by the thousands, biting flies and they were immune to everything, I just got a new tattoo and of course that is all they were attacking, threw every thing into the truck not caring where or how it was positioned and hauled @$$ back to oc, tried fishing there but to many swimmers to attempt to fish for shark. I will try again next monday hopefully better weather.

just got back from the beach,,,flies, flies, flies,,,did I say flies,,,lasted 2 minutes and like Dave, got the heck outta there, I should of known better when I saw the beach deserted,,,there are still a hundred in my truck, bit me the whole way home, even with 100 perc deet,,,going to try in a couple hours when the sun goes down, I am sure there will be no flies but am just worried about the other flying insect, the AI national bird, the mosquito.

If ya all dont mind, take a few bites for me. I am experiencing insect venom withdrawl. Last time down either the DEET or the flies got my face and it looked like some BOTOX shots gone wrong. Couldnt even drink right my lip was so swollen. :icon_twisted: Dont think ill be using that toxic stuff anymore, it dont work anyhow.

There are four things that work for the biting flies:

1. Stay away.
2. Stay in truck.
3. Stay in screen house.
4. Stay in the water up to your ears.

Now, if ya can get a smoke line going, that'll work....

Talking

I headed out to AI tonight and met up with David (ocsnapper) and friends and was soon joined by Coop and Jeff (Fish-aholic) and later on by Steve (Skylar). We had a pretty eventful night with quite a few runs and some really crazy catches. I'm going to let Scott tell the cool story, but here is a picture of Steve with a fish on.
