Default How do you attach your weight?

I have been using fishfinder rigs on my rub leader section, but the two runs I have had it has snapped the plastic ring on the fishfinder where the brick is tied to it. should I use like 10lb test mono to attach the brick so the line breaks before the fishfinder? cause.. the brick IS supposed to break off when you hook up with a fish right? What do you guys do?

What size shock leader and rub leader are you using and what kind of knot are you using. Are you lubing your knots. Be as specific as possable on the details of your rig.

300lb rub 8 feet long, 3 feet of malin wire, and I tied on the brik with a piece of 50lb test to a fish finder rig sliding along the rub leader. The fishfinder is physicly breaking at the point where the snap swivel attaches to the plastic sleve.

I was having similar problems, but Sam showed me that he uses the same swivel snap as he uses on his running line. I am curently using 360lb snap swivels instead of fish finders. seems to be working.

I just use a standard snap swivel for the weight connector. The 10lb test line is a good idea if you don't want to retrieve the brick and yes, if a big critter gets hooked, you do loose the brick.

Many of those white/clear and black ff tend to be junk,,,I would suggest using a regular snap swivel on your rub leader.

Ditto on what Coop said.....
You don't need a large or expensive swivel either.
I use 10# to attach the weight to the swivel, I don't want the weight back.
I use concrete with nails sticking out for spikes.
