Okay Ben and Dorotea, here goes. Please bare with me, I'm pretty tired, sun burned, with bronchitis and a sinus infection. I'll post more tomorrow, but I gotta get in the major details tonight.
First off, I would like to thank Beverly and Terry from Harbor Tackle. They donated an AWESOME sharking setup and really helped us out during these past two weeks. You guys have been great to us from the start and I really appreciate it. I would also like to thank David (ocsnapper) from Snapper's Saloon. He did a great job organizing the food for this event and provided the grill, the fixin's and did all the cooking. There was more food there than we could eat. Thanks to Phil (Esox) and Steve (Trowpa) for the burgers, dogs and buns. Thanks to Coop for the awesome shrimp salad, fruit salad and black bean salsa. Thanks to Oliver (Igor Mothra) for the firewood and his mom (OceanOma) for the bagels and AMAZING graham cracker surprise. Thanks to Steve (Steve) for the bait. Thanks to DaveH for the great cream of crab soup. I'm sorry if I forgot anyone... Like I said, I'm a bit weary. Thanks to everyone for coming and supporting the site. I had a great time meeting all the new folks and having faces to put to the names. It was good to see the regulars and the ones who attended the Spring Fling. Now, on to the fishing results! It started off with a strong S/E wind which made yaking out baits quite difficult. Some people were catching kingfish, spot and croakers. Randy also caught a nice 17" flounder! Oliver caught a nice, fat cownose ray to get things rolling. Scott landed a 39" sandbar. That was pretty much it until around 10:00pm when Oliver had a fish on. It took him about 10 minutes to land a rather feisty Sandtiger shark measuring 79", which made him the winner of the contest. This was a great catch because it was his first shark ever from the surf. Congrats, Oliver! Thanks again to everyone. I am already looking forward to the next fling!

Congrats Oliver, I had a nice screamin reel around 9pm but after a two minute fight it was over, guess I didnt have a good hook set, then 5 minutes later Javier, rod doubled over, ended up tangling with our neighbors line, and missed it, then half hour later Hoax had a rod bend over but there was some miscommunication with him and his buddies and again no catch, I managed one croaker around 18 inches(which is what I used for bait) and 5 dogfish shark. Javier had four or five skate and three dogfish. It was an awesome day and even though the winds were horrid at times, and the brief storm slowed things down a bit, It was an excellent fling. Sam sorry about the t-shirt fiasco. But thanks for all the work you and Harbor Tackle and everyone else that contributed to the fling for making it a great outing, cant wait to do it again sometime.

Great stuff, I really wish I could've been there.....Crongrats Oliver, and all it took you was 10 min to land it? Talk about hauling him in quick.....Sounds like good times were had by all. I just let my GF read and she had the same question I did.....What is that top right picture???? And wow, I'm hungry now reading about all the food. I'm glad everyone had a blast and got finished up safe. Sorry to hear you're still sick sam....get some rest so you can be ready to fish some more. The reports through the rest of the weekend should be good since I know people are still out there fishing this morning......Randy, nice flat one from the suds...its been a while since I've seen a keeper pulled out of the wash. Again, good job everyone and good job sam for apparently putting together another big success......

The pic on the top right is a glipse of the ray as he was fighting not to come out of the surf. Mom(oceanoma) brought in 1 king and 6 skates. I can't begin to tell you how much fun I had yesterday. I wish that more people would have pulled some big boys out of the water. Thanks to Tyler(your nefew Sam) for swimming out and helping me swim my yak in, and thanks Coop for swimming out and getting the yak the other time(boy that was a stupid idea
) What a great day thanks again Sam and everyone who helped set it up. ![]()

I am glad to hear that everyone had a great time----it sounded like it was a blast----wish I could have joined in, but I had to be at BWI first thing sat. morning and then it took over four hours to drive back home, which normally would take an hour and twenty minutes ---traffic was horrible. congrats to all who made the fling a success and I sure hope I will be available the next time-------------------------Kirk---gonefishin

My wife. mother, uncle and I made it to the fling friday night around 6:30. We pullled a little bit farther up than everyone else because we had like 6 rods and didnt want to tangle with the guys that were yakking. We had decent luck with the fish. The biggest of the night was a 3.5' sharpnose i caught while casting. It was cool to see the 49" tiger that scott caught. But the highlight would definitly be the kayak my wife bought me when we got home this morning. 11' 8" mainstream kingfish sit on top. So hopefully now ill be able to hang with the big boys once i master the yak and get a rod with enough line.
