Default Surf Fishing OC

Hi All,

I'm new to this forum and to surf fishing. My family and I will be visiting OC in August. I have inherited some older fishing equipment from a relative. I'd thought I'd try a little surf fishing. On an average summer day, how much weight do you need to hold bottom in the surf? I know conditions are different each day.

Thanks

Yep - i would think in August without unusual wind/currents/waves -average 4oz - You coudl go down to 3 somedays, but I usually use 4-6 just for sake of loading bigger rods - and stay down towards 4 on lighter rods for the small fish.

I'd use 4's but if it is real calm it wouldnt hurt to put a three on you'll probably be able to cast that farther.
