Default Came Across this Article

http://www.nesportsman.com/articles/article78.shtml Pretty good, a one very blatent issue. They comment about 60' of water in a kayak off of myrtle beach....Well as much as I fish there, and check any charts and you'll see, at 10 miles off shore you are in 40-50' of water, 3 miles off you're only in 20-30' So I highly doubt this guy was actually in 60' of water But still a good story

That story actually got me into kayaking and sharking and both at the same time.

My assumption was that they hook up and drag the shark in, don't see how they could land it out there

It's always nice to have a read on this stuff.
But the folks in the article (and pics) seem to be getting the little Charks.
I mean, an 8/0 hook?
And they're only 200 yards off the beach paddling parallel.

Come on guys, take a real slab on a big hook out a half mile!
At least the way we do it everyone gets to see the critter and it's way too much fun!

But seeing a huge figure under the yak, yeah, that is scary.....
I like these articles, find some more!

there really aren't any on the east coast, lots about La Jolla threshers though.

One quote I read from a guide out there when fishing the kelp "If a sea lion or a shark wants your seabass, its best to give it to him..."

Returing to shore in west coast surf is a bit of a chore as well.

Great article..... maybe we should think about a group trip down there? I think that most of us are pretty well rigged up for this, sounds like a blast.

I can tell you from my experience last week and last oct that there are plenty of toothy critters around. It would've been nice to have some more experienced yakkers with me when I tried....Anyhow...not a bad Idea. My aunt and uncle own a house in Garden City on the marsh, so plenty of mullet, spot, pinfish and shrimp for bait, all you need is some patience and a cast net.......its narrow and the schools aren't too big I was pulling 5-10 finger mullet in each cast when the tide was going out and the schools were swimming by. Didn't take me long at all to have about 40-50 of those things ready to go.
