Any one know what local AI fish would be best to use for bait, I have caught croaker and it seems to work quite well, kings also, but what about atlantic sharpnose? Are they anygood for bait, I also heard of sharks appetite for rays but how bout skate?

I'm looking forward to sending a skate out myself. I'll let you know how it goes. It'd be nice to find a use for them.

Dave, Skate is for sure on the menu.
It's just not a oily, bloody bait like other species.
If it stinks and bleeds, it's food!
Bull Charks really tear 'em up in the CB, chasing live ones.

Now, the little Rays, I dunno' but don't see why not.

I don't know about skates... Rays can get pretty bloody and I have used some smaller ones for bait. No luck with either.

I had so many skate last night I was really tempted to use one for bait, I was running low and bucks was out of fresh bait. I did manage to use a king for my sharkin rod, but crabs cleaned me off. Has anyone tried the Atlantic Sharpnose for bait, just out of curiosity.

I would love to hook a live sharpnose on a big rig and take it out a few hundred yards. "Bait sharks" have caught some of the largest shore caught sharks. However, with atlantic sharpnose and doggies the only sharks you are legal to keep under 54 inches in MD, the baitshark choices are slim. Certainly worth a try for something big. Good luck.
