Default Permit Issues

I got a call from an official with Assateague Island and we are in the process of getting the permit. She said it is standard procedure to have the application submitted a year in advance. It was a little unclear to me, since I couldn't find any information on permit procedures. Now it is just a wait game. If we don't get issued a permit, the fling will be canceled.

Hopefully, we will get the permit and all will be okay. Keep in mind, this is an open forum and is considered organized. I will keep you all up to date as soon as I hear something.

Yikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At what point would they draw the line between a few of us getting together (as in a "join me" time) and an organized "event"??? seems like there is some grey area in there.....

I asked about that and there really isn't a definitive point. Like I said, I couldn't find any kind of criteria stating what an organized event actually is. This is not a tournament, no catering, no advertising... Just an informal "get together". But, we have to abide by their rules and regs.

Hopefully, we'll get the permit issued and this will not be an issue.

bad news, hopefully they will help us out. I would think the "event" permit would be more for something on the north end near the crowd. Making sure they don't have an overload issue etc. The ORV area is already regulated so hopefully this will weigh in the decision. I wouldn't think you'd need a permit to get together on the ORV beach since they already have a cap.

Sam did you ask Bev if they do it for the Drum tourney? That is still first come first served so maybe you can't get a permit for the ORV beach, they'd basically be shutting down the beach for you. Just rambling with my fingers crossed.

nope no organized event - don't know what you're talkin' about. Btw - I think i'll go shark fishing on the 28th...if anyone wants to join....

(must just stop referring to a "fling" - how about "this thing of ours...." aka la cosa nostra...;)

We'll wait and see what happens. I won't discourage anyone from going, but I would like to keep things on the up and up with the island officials. This isn't going to be the only "get together" for this site and I don't want a bad taste in their mouth for Delmarvafishing.com and I certainly don't want to be on their radar for future events. I am sure everything will work out okay.
