well whats your budget?
whenever i go to basspro i spend WAY too much....this year alone i have spent.....well alot, i mean, ALL of my money on bass fishing gear.

I could really help you out in the rod/ reel department, unless you already have some for freshwater fishing.

For bass i like to throw anything other than bait, there are soo many options out there, it all depends on how you like to fish. The reason i dont use bait is because its messy, and using artificials is just as or much more productive.
i would say to start-go out and buy a couple towater poppers/ spooks, throw them in the morning and evening.....or when the sun is not out. Get a couple crank/ jerkbaits, stik with shallow divers if you are fishing ponds(rapala is a very affordable brand for hard plastics...unlike lucky craft). Get various spinners and buzzbaits, as they will work and are generally more fun to fish....buy some trailer/stinger hooks..or you will regret it! i also highly reccomend buying lots of soft plastic baits, they will produce year round, and with the correct rigging, can be fished at any depth. Buy various slip sinkers (aka bullet weights). Also buy some split shot for some lighter weighting too. Also, look into small swimbaits (storm wildeye suspending) they will produce many QUALITY fish. If i had reccomend one lure that will consistantly catch fish, it is the Yamamoto Senko (or other different brands like the wave tikistick, and the Yum dinger). To catch fish, get some 5 inch senkos, rig them weightless with a 4/0 and cast it anywhere. (the smaller the hook the slower, more seductive fall) Just throw it out.....and let it fall on semislack line (watch your line to detect when the bass picks it up). Once it hits the bottom...give it a few seconds, then gently lift your rod tip, pulling the senko off the bottom. Then let it fall again.
Color choices: any greens will work.........for the hard baits, pick up some bluegill patters. I also would get some browns and blacks......or other crawfish colors. Many colors will work

Sorry for rambling, let me know if you have ANY questions about bass fishin....its basically all that i do ;)
BEN
GOD BLESS

Yeah, that was about a month ago. I've since bought some of the stuff you've mentioned.

An old timer told me once:
Boy, all that fancy stuff is for catching the fisherman and not the fish, stick to the basics.

And so I have....
Well, except for my taste in beer....

I don't go near freshwater without Mepps spinners and Beetle-Spins. When all else fails, these will get you something. Try the plain Mepps size 0. On the Beetle Spins (white) I replace the grub with a curly tail. Before the water warms, enhance whatever you're using with an attractant like Smelly Jelly. Also, try different retrieve speeds and depths...anything with a spinning blade, though, you need to keep it moving fast enought o keep the blade turning.
