Went to the little lehigh yesterday afternoon for a couple hours - got one nice trout on a two fly rig - olive conehead woollybugger in the lead position (size 10) and a size 16 mink-dubbed (ugly and buggy) generic nymph of my own design tied on a dropper. Unfortunately, the fish came off at my knees before I could see which fly he hit on.

It was a very relaxing time - crips air (28 degrees!), water was 42 degrees, thank heaven for waterproof gloves! New cabelas waders performed well..nice and toasty...only real pain of the entire outing was the ice that kept forming in my rod guides....made casting less than graceful....Anyone have a solution for this?

Keys i've found so far in the cold are to concentrate on slow, deep holes and to fish dead drift. It is definitely slower action in the winter, and i have to work a little harder, but still completely relaxing!!!

Hey steve...glad you had success ( spelling? ) I went out in Clarks with my Basspro buddies and landed 1 brown at 12.5 inches on a black 22 midge! was going to try the two nymphs but kept tangling up my rigs so I got fustrated and went back to the midges which were everywhere!!!!
