The rules state that no boats or floatation device can be used to take out baits. It also states that per IGFA rules, there may be no assistance in casting or reeling in the fish.

Can someone hold someone's rod as they get the fish they landed out of the wash?

No. It says no assistance allowed in casting or landing of fish in the rules.

I would assume holding a rod while you get the fish would be assistance.

I have never fished in this tourney, but am this year.

Once the fish is "landed", meaning at your feet. I would assume that you could have someone hold your rod so you could safely remove the hook. It would be up to Terry and Bev, but that is my opinion.

from the couple of tournies i've fished in on hatteras ;
if the fish is on the beach , no chanch of him getting back in the surf , he is considered 'landed' . then it is ok to hand off your rod and reel .
whats not allowed is someone grabbing your leader to pull the fish onto the sand , or going in the wash to grab the fish for you .
