Default 10/11-10/13

Looking to get down Wednesday night and leave Friday around noon, by then I won't be able to stand the smell of myself and will need to go home.

This will depend on the reports as well, it no one is catching I may stay away and wait for Stripers instead.

Confirmed, I should arrive with just enough light to find a spot on Wednesday night. I will fish through the front arrival on Friday until around noon at the very least. There is a possiblity I may be helping my buddy work on his house in Fenwick on Sat, if that is the case I will fish through Sat morning and then again starting Sat night. So that's best case 72 hours, worst case 40+ hours in the sand, I'm yakking live baits, spot/peelers, if something is there I should find it. I plan to fish for drum and will be south until I convince myself that they are not there, then I'll move north looking for an early striper, all probably on AI.

Yeah I learned my lesson on a 2-1/2 hour 4 mile paddle (should have been about an hour trolling) back to the ramp one Saturday in the bay. I paddlel as hard as I could and managed under 2mph the whole time. Must have been tootin 25 mph once I turned around, that was hell. Which is why I'm switching to the pedal yak, more power and it gets you out of the wind. Good to be big and strong, but you also act like a sail in the wind.

Ben, how do you think the pedal design will work in the surf,,,eg., shallow bar to peddle over or can you remove the prop so you can paddle when it's shallow,,,I thought about getting one of those after watching that Hobie video,,,they look very quick but had a hefty price tag.

The "outdrive" removes for fishing in shallow water. When the pedals are in the neutral position the flippers are tucked against the yak also but you still can't beach it with them in. I'll give it a try or two but I'm planning on jumping out prior to the shore break and coasting the yak in. Most of my sharkin is way north of those shallow bars anyway.

I'm not too sure how it will do in the surf and I'm prepared to pick up a frenzy or something cheap if I need to, but this will make all the difference in the world to me out in the bay. I was limited to 6 hours and about 12 mile round trips, now I can stay out all day and not worry as much about the wind.

I'd love to be able to get up a full head of steam and cruise in between waves though.

yeah I'm staring 1500-1900 in the face on this one depending on the size I get but that is fully outfitted.
