If I heard correctly this morning, there is some emphasis of trying to stop bill fishing all together. I hope this is not the case. Our local community gets a large amount of revenue form recreational charter boat fishing and would be a horrible blow to recreational fisherman. The focus should be over the control of the commercial fishery (longliners) and not the recreational fisherman. I am not sure whether I am correct, but I would think the mass majority of bill fish are c&r. Trying to stop recreational bill fishing would be completely unfounded since most are released anyway. I am going to talk to my dad, who is an avid offshore fisherman, and try to find out any more info on this topic. If anyone else has information on this, please keep us informed.

Coop,

Where did you hear this and by whom? I can't think of a reason to stop billfishing, from what I know it is pretty much catch and release. I'd like to hear more about it if anyone can fill me in. We fishermen have to stick together!
