Harbor Tackle Fishing Report June 18, 2007

Fishing is still slow. We cannot seem to get a break from the wind. It seems just about the time the water clears up from high winds we get another storm and the wind stirs up the water all over again. The surf is producing some sharks, an occasional striper, kingfish, blues, skates and rays. Sam Kilgore from Berlin, Maryland caught a 31 lb 2 oz 45 inch striper off the beach last Monday using fresh bunker. The Rt. 50 Bridge is producing stripers, blues, and shad at night with a few flounder during the day. Daniel Schramm of Winchester, Virginia hooked a 15 lb 6 oz 38 inch striper from the Rt. 50 Bridge Friday evening. Saturday night Dan went back for more and had a 40 inch striper hooked and lost him. The Inlet has produced some tog, blues, short stripers and shad. Some tog have been caught at the 2nd & 4th Street bulkhead. Big flounder have been elusive. Most of the big ones are in the flats north of the Rt. 90 Bridge and south of the Assateague Bridge. Friends went flounder fishing past the bridge and limited out three times; however, that was before the blow and the water turned to chocolate milk. Smaller flounder are at the Thorofare, the Rt. 50 Bridge, and in front airport. Tassos Argyros from Garrett, Maryland took a 7.715 tog at the Fenwick Shoals Saturday with live sandfleas.
