Harbor Tackle Fishing Report June 11, 2007

Not much change from last week, fishing is still slow. The surf is still producing a few stripers. Man Choi fished the Assateague surf Saturday and hooked up with a 35 inch striper using fresh bunker. This was Man’s first surf fishing outing. Man’s veteran fishing companions could not keep out fish him. Kingfish, skates, blues, and sharks are on the surf menu. Most fishermen are using fresh bunker, live bloodworms and/or fake bloodworms, and live peelers looking for some drum. John Clapsadle hooked up with a 29 inch striper at the Rt. 50 Bridge. He used a storm lure for bait. Friday evening at the Rt. 50 Bridge one person caught 25-30 stripers in the 20 to 25 inch range. Saturday evening was the same with the exception of one 32 inch striper taken off soft crabs. Blues and shad were making a showing at the Rt. 50 Bridge too. Jaime Cummings took a 22 inch flounder from Stinky Beach using live minnows on Monday evening. A 25 inch 6 ½ lb pound flounder was found in the deeper water of the Thorofare on Tuesday and Friday an 18 inch flounder was taken from the same area. A few flounder were taken from around the Rt. 50 Bridge. Some blues hooked up at the Inlet with some lures Friday evening. At the 2nd and 4th Street Bulkhead Friday and Saturday were good days for picking up tog. Some legals were reported from the bulkhead those two day. Friday Hugh Cropper, IV was fishing at the Fingers and hooked up with a 13 lb 8 oz bluefish with fresh bunker and on Sunday his son, Hugh, caught a 4.8 lb flounder using minnows while fishing around the Rt. 50 Bridge. James Lutz caught a 5.485 lb 24 inch flounder behind the airport with live minnows Sunday morning.
