Harbor Tackle’s Fishing Report, December 4, 2006

Blues, Blues, and Blues. Big blues are happening in the surf. Chris Miller took a 33 1/8” and 26” blue and lots of skates on Tuesday at AI. Chris Krest hooked up with 2 – 32”,a 34”, and a 36” blue all on the incoming tide. Punkin Cropper on Friday got a 36” blue from the surf. Floyd “Morty” Morton got 20 blues ranging in size from 30” to 38” blues and 10 stripers in the 26” range all in a couple of hours on Friday. Morty also had lots of break offs using 100 lb leaders. The fish were chewing through the leader material. The bait of choice was fresh bunker. Blues are at the Inlet. Paul Fischer took a 31” blue in the Inlet Thursday. Lots of blues and short striper are being reported at the Inlet and Rt. 50 Bridge. The baits of choice are live eels, spot, and black saltys. Little Gull was producing some legal stripers. The fishermen were using mostly live black saltys. The fish were hitting the saltys 2 to 1 compared to the eels. The shad have moved in the Inlet and Bridge area. Tog fishing was good; however, the season closed on December 1, 2006.
