You may become a World Record Holder
The IGFA is a world recognized that properly qualifies, records, and keeps records for most game fish caught in both fresh and saltwater around the world. Records are maintained for heaviest "all-tackle" catches in each species and for "line-class" catches in 2, 4, 6, 8, 12, 16, 20, 30, 50, 80, and 130-pound test line, fly-tackle records in 2, 4, 6, 8, 12, 16, and 20-pound tippet, as well as junior-angler catches for both men and women’s categories.
To keep the world record process fair for all anglers, the IGFA has rules on how fish must be landed, what type of bait and tackle may and may not be used, and what you must have to do after the catch to qualify it as an official record.
It is possible for anyone to get a record status by contacting the IGFA website (www.igfa.org) to get all the details that the organization requires for a record. There is a $40 membership fee to stay informed of all the record standings and to receive the free goodies they send you as a new member.
