either way it will probalby be going up or down the beach right not really in and out? I'm using it to get more scent in the water and help lead the chark to my spread. This is why Steve and those guys use such huge baits, if you have chum you can use smaller bait and hooks, once they are in and hungry they're gonna eat. This is why I made my own, so I could have large pieces of the stink in the bucket kicking off scent instead of the ground which will disappear a little more quickly. I still have to use the ground since I filled my freezer with Stripers, chum, and deer...need more freezers. If it works I'll feel smart, if not I just wasted a lot of time making chum.

That's correct Charkbait, it'll prolly be going along the beach. But I'm sure you and others will have a trick or two dropped further out.
Yep, I use big baits for the theory in my signature. A big bait also keeps Skates and other smaller critters from swallowing it. I size it for the mouth I want to feed. Remember, reading Sam's post, the Skates can detect the bait the same way a Chark does so they'll be in there thick. I don't think we should keep every Skate, only what is needed at the time.

I truly don't think anyone will be wasting their time making chum, it's a good idea. Just got to keep the critters from dragging the bucket away.

We can use Randy's blender to make more chum.
(ok Barb, just kidding...)

yeah I'll have the bucket anchored to the truck and may put a 20/0 on the handle just in case I get a frisky one! Good point on the rays and skates with the big bait. 500 yards of line is a lot of work for some trash fish.

Oh yeah, I don't want all the skates, I'll do fine by myself on the short rods I'm sure. Unless you have a problem critter like I did last time, caught it on 3 consective casts, once in the wing and then twice in the mouth...he met the shovel...

Now, if we could attach a watertight buzzer to a line close to the baits that would be interesting. They should pick up on that real quick.

I figure with my contraption I will actually be able to shake the baits every now and then and the other benefit of being able to keep live fresh bait on the hook. I've though about one of those mako magnets (that's a lot of cord though!). Guys like me need to pull out all the stops when we get 12 hours on AI every month or two.
