Default Miss Cape Canaveral 10/26

Fished aboard the Miss Cape Canaveral last Thursday. I was a little disappointed in the attitudes of the mates, and reflected it in my tips. Also, the captain seemed unable or unwilling to put us on any big fish, and kept us in the kindergarden.

That being said, it was an enjoyable day, good weather, and calm seas.

We left Port Canaveral at 0800 for a 90 minute run out. I'm guessing we were 22-25 miles out in about 100' of water. I quickly boated a keeper Cbass, and lots and lots of dinks. This was to be the theme of the day.

We moved a few times throughout the day, and he finally put us on a school of red snapper. I don't know if it was the offset hooks we were using or what, but I lost alot of bait. So I switched to a 2/0 J hook and was able to set some and bring about 40-50 throwbacks to the boat. All chicken snappers and grunts with the occasional short Cbass thrown in. We went through 5 lbs of spanish sardines and 2 coffee cans full of squid.

No groupers were caught, and only 1 red snapper was boated.

Total on my stringer was 2 Cbass, and 1 squirrellfish.

Here's some pix:

Looks fun... It does suck when someone else is in control. I get pretty frusterated (Like I would know any better anyway).

Default Sam you may have a point

I never thought of that, I might just be a control freak.....

Only my 2nd trip ever on a headboat, and I definitely prefer to be the one wearing the hat.

Don't take my post the wrong way, lots of action, just not the big fish that I was looking to get into.
