Default decided to get started myself

I was sitting here watching hockey and decided to strip down an old Penn rod that I want to have rebuilt. I got the guides, seat, handle, and thread off, now I have alot of residual epoxy on the rod. What is the best way to get it off? I was browsing through the other threads here and I didn't see much on cleaning.

Oliver, you can use a alcohol lamp to soften the epoxy.

I always used a heat gun on low to soften epoxy and removed it with single edge razor blade.
