| Coop. Look into the spikes with the mounting on the rack. You won't be disapointed. Keeps them ready to go at all times and out of the way. Gene makes good stuf. Ron

| Good info guys- Thanx! Sounds like, for the most part, everyone makes their own spike. Therefore, It sounds like I won't be making Auger Surf Spikes for my retirement fund! LOL! Thanx Ryan

| Guys, sand spikes are cheap and easy. Go to home depot/Lowes and get the green metal fence posts. They are around $4.00. Get the 5 or 6 foot. Then get some PVC 16-24" use your best judgement and bolt it or heavily duct tape it to the end. The bottom of the post has a small cross section that you can use to put your shoe on to kind of jump on it to ride it into the sand. I can post a pic if needed. I assume most people have PVC and duct tape so the cost is just the post. |

| On our way home from a very disappointing shopping trip to Gander Mountain and Bass Pro Shop, Jimmy was saying he'd just make his own sand spikes using the green metal fence post and pvc. I told him he was nuts that when I was walking the beach on saturday I didn't see anything but store bought spikes. After reading this I guess I was wrong...Do the spikes that you are making out of the green fence post work well? Anyone got a picture of it that we could use as a model? FYI - this search for better spikes is because we had two reels land in the sand when the spikes (only pvc, not metal) fell over this weekend. |

| For the PVC, use 2" or 2.5", five foot long. Take a hunk of your firewood and drive the PVC a foot or so in the sand. Fishie won't pull it over. I'll take a pic of the fence post setup tomorrow, they're buried in the truck bed...
