Default Anyone use this knot?

In my first attempt at using a shock leader, I thought this knot looked pretty foolproof - if not the strongest, at least very easy to tie without screwing it up. Anyone use it? Like it? Not like it? Knot seems pretty small going from 17lb sufix to 50lb Big game shock...just hope it holds...

I usually use the double uni when joining lines, but that knot looks pretty cool. I'll have to try it.

Here's a good site:

Yeah, it's weird that they don't have the Bimini twist....but other than that, it's a good one!

Trowpa, aren't you throwing spinning gear?

If so you will have to let me know how this works. I never tried a wind on shock.

X's 2, Uni is all I use now to join 2 lines together and even if one is way larger (in dia) you just double it over on itself and I've never had 1 fail

If you don't wind on, its not really a shock right? By definition, they need to be wound on... Anyway, I'm nervous about the knot getting caught on the cast, so I'll start off lobbing and gradually put more power....see how it goes...

Well I tried a shock but it was rigged to perfection, ended up being a mess. I was worried about the knot as well, I just tied 10ft of 50 to the swivel and ran it outside of the eyes and used that to hold while casting. Worked beautifully, I could really lay into it...a bit tangled though when I pulled it in!

I use 20 pound mono and a 60 pound shock leader with an allbright knot. The knot doesnt hurt the casting at all in fact i think i can throw farther with the shock leader

I use the Standard Leader Knot with one twist. I use a Nail knot on the shank of the shock leader. I have also use the Tournament knot as well. This is the same as the standard leader knot but instead of a overhand knot you burn the end of the shock leader to form a ball and then tie your nail knot on the shank of the shock leader. Typically I will allow the ball to sag so that it is off center. This will allow the main line to be straight and not have to kink over the ball end of the shock leader
