Default Daiwa reel

Is this a good set-up for casting for toothies?

I love my Daiwa Emcasts. I have the 5500 and 5000 and they are awesome spinner reels. However I have begun the transition to a conventional surf fisherman so I will probably only purchase conventionals for the heavers. I still will use my 12' spinners for the piers though.

These reels are an awesome value. I cannot speak for the rod however ... I know nothing about it.
