| I fished today on a friend's boat out around the Brown's Shoal area of the bay. The first drift, we caught an eight pound northern stargazer. Fishing was slow with a mix of sand sharks, croakers, blues and throwback flounder. Right about high tide the fishing improved drastically. I caught three keepers from 18" to 23" in about fifteen minutes, all on strip baits. The 23" fish weighed 5.25 lbs on a hand scale and was fat. I released the 18" fish to grow up. Fishing became tough when the tide started going out against the wind, so we headed in early. |
