Clarification Regarding Fishing at Greenville Dam: Regulations state that anglers fishing the pool below Greenville Dam for shad, stripers and other species must fish in the eastern half of the pool, which is to the Preston side of the red-painted rocks at the island at the tail end of the pool. In the past, anglers have cheated a good deal. I've seen people fishing on shore from the west bank of the pool around the fish-life attraction outflow, which is the area being protected by this regulation. Other anglers have been able to stand on the east side and cast across into the same area. No more. The conservation officers in this area are strictly enforcing this regulation for the first time. According to Bill Hyatt of the Connecticut DEP, those of us who fish the dam must keep our lures and baits to the east side of the line from the rocks at the island to the middle of the dam.
Winter flounder: Bluff Point has slowed down in the upper reaches, but reports from Bull indicate the fish have moved out into the lower reaches of this popular area and into the Sound. Fluke: Pat Abate noted there were good numbers of fluke being caught off Montauk Point for the past few days, which probably means there are also some fish in the Peconic Bay area as well. Source
