HD,

So from now on, not beginning 2008, we will pay the increased fees?

My understanding is that is starts in 2008 and not before, which means I will be down in Dec 07 to re-up for 2008 =).

2007 permit & pass fees remain unchanged. Beginning 1/2008, the new fee structure will go into effect assuming it is accepted. So if you buy a permit in July 2007 it will expire July 2008 and will function as the equivalent of the new $150 permit untill expiration.

So if you buy one in dec 2007, under 2007 rules you have 24 hr access. In 2008, you still have 24 hr access then?

(ha! listen to me asking these questions and I haven't even bought the #)$(#$* 4x4 yet!)

HD, if you are attending these meets, I think it would be great if they let whomever with the $150 ticket to snooze in the BP without a 3 day holding tank.
I mentioned this way back in the beginning of this thread. We'd gladly pay the extra bucks to ensure a safer drive to a distant home. It's not like it would be hurting anyone. During the summer weekends, the restrictions of holding tanks can be enacted if space is an issue.

Now that makes sense to me. There has been many of times that I have been out fishing for long stretches of time and wanted to take a nap and not get in any trouble. I would not mind having to hit the BP for a few hours of sleep.

I do not expect the rules regarding the Bull Pen to change reagrding the requirement of self containment. We will certainly discuss it with them, but they have firm opinions on thsi subject.

If you buy a permit in December 2007, it will be good until December 2008 and will equal the $150 permit access.

Are you allowed to sleep in the parking lot before you go home?

There is a sign in the South Ocean Beach parking lot that states no overnight parking.

I know - which is really annoying for those of us that use the walkover - what alternative does a walkover fisherman have if they want to fish overnight?????

Just tell them you are fishing before hand. My buddies that come down to fish leave their trucks/cars in the lot by the station and pile in with me since I have the gear and the sticker. They tell us to park in that lot at the gate, I guess in the other lots you could have trouble.

I am sure I'll get the thumbs down on this but I think it would be a very bad idea to have non self contained vehicles in the bull pen...

For starters, you will have every joe packed in their spending the night whether fishing or not. I understand that many of you guys would like to take a nap, but if you allow non self contained vehicles in the bull pen, I am willing to bet, the majority of the people without campers will not be fisherman.

Secondly, I am sure that the beach will fill up faster with many people who normally couldnt sleep there now can...making it even harder for many to get on the beach.

I understand where you guys are coming from, but overall, I think it would be a bad idea.

I personally wouldn't even bring up this subject. Lets pick our fights and not create new ones. I personally like the rules set now and am ok with the increases, still a bargain. The way things are going now...Currently with everything going down with the environmentalist, lets fight for keeping and not trying to get more.

Everyone wants this and that, but seriuosly, we need to fight for keeping access for everyone, PERIOD!

Trowpa, I don't think that rule is generally enforced. When my pop parked there to fish with me at night we asked a ranger about that rule and he said it shouldn't be a problem. I think that really is meant that no overnight sleeping in the parking lot which I agree with. If you allowed that, you would have every tom, dick and harry there sleeping. I don't think you guys will have a problem fishing that area at night.

True Coop - I've done it in the past, and never got a ticket. But I don't like the fact that the sign is there - makes me always on edge about it. Would it have killed them to be more specific with their sign?
