Alright, alright.......
First of all, we all know how the Gov can't tie it's own shoes, especially when it comes to fiscal matters. Anyone want to buy a 1.5 cubic foot fridge for $1500?
Sure! Uncle Sam does! As long as you can deliver it on time!

Nope, ain't gonna' buy this "study", just ain't happening.
I'd like to see an outside party do their books and see exactly what's going on. Maybe the amount will be less, maybe more. But let's find the real dollar amount. Oh, and put the cost of the SECOND party survey into the project fees.

For the life of me, I really cannot see why it costs them so much to do the things they need done, IF, IF, they do a REAL commercial bid, and not one of the bogus type bids the Gov usually does.

If it really must come down to it, NIX all these adjusted fees and simply set it at a 24/7, including Bullpen for $110 a year. That will help in three ways.

The first?
You don't have to patrol for offenders breaking the midnight rule, fewer Rangers on duty.... And less hassle for the ones that have paid.

Second?
It will keep the weekend warriors off the dunes and terrorizing decent folk.
Ok, again, fewer calls to the Rangers.

Third?
Well, the third is to let folks catch a few winks in the Bullpen before they go out on the roads dog-ass tired after enjoying their $110 permit and hurt someone.
Yeah, let the folks get some snooze in the Bullpen WITHOUT a three-day holding tank.

Go ahead, raise the fee to $110, the folks that treasure, preserve and protect the island will pay it. The knuckleheads that want to trash the place will stay off the ORZ.

'nuff said....

That does about sum it up. I would pay that fee and Im a low brow and poor. When compared to the majority of folks in the "30/30"club. I love AI. But when confronted with the fees and conditions required Im headed to OBX, after May of 08 thats for sure....... Iffin I aint already fishingCaneveral National Seashore by then on a more permanent basis..... One can dream right?

Good point about the extra patrols. I can't wait for the rangers driving by all hours of the night with their flash lights looking for a 24 hr sticker... Yuck, it's going to be a pain, especially for the first few months with our favorite ranger.

I like the idea on sol to bump it to $200 and let people sleep in the bull pen even though they aren't self contained, it would be a life saver for me. I have to drive to 125th and sleep for a few hours and then load up and come back, takes around 2 hours round trip from breakdown to setup.

No way to differentiate between people partying all weekend and staying on the beach for free and people fishing in need of a nap though which is why I assume they put the rule in place in the first place.

This is just nuts.... I see this whole thing as yet another way that THEY are taking away the simple pleasures for the little guy.... I don't mind paying a little more for what I want to do, but I hate the fact that it always seems like its the blue collar, working man/woman, real people that pay the price. The jack ass H2 idiots running all over the dune, who don't care about the $$$$, will just keep it up regardless of the cost because they can. It doesn't hurt them at all and it will never stop them, they can afford to keep it up.

Default one last point.... inconsistency's and the real deal

This is a political problem. Some might call it a users fee. The problem is some National Sea shores don't charge for orv, others do, how is this determined, and why? You can jaw all you want to in the "BULL PEN", but the solution for this change is to call / write your Senators, and Representatives. If any one has any close political friends talk to them now, if not make some friends. Other wise just suck it up and pay the fees. Talk is easy action takes some initiative. Default one last thought

The superintendent is worried or has pressure that this park is loosing money 100,00? The GAO can't account for 1 Billion and change in Iraq that my Great Grand Children will be paying for. The Assateague loss is a drop in the bucket, where are our priorities. A point for your calls and letters to your congressmen and women.
I have lots of other thoughts, but nuff said.
See you at the boat show.

got mine today, $75.00 and $20.00 so Im good-to-go for 2007

now last year I got hasseled @4 times because my decal was attached to the windshield because Barbs truck has a plastic textured bumper cover and "lady ranger" told me last year that it would be ok, not
now Im told we can attach the sticker to a piece of Lexan or stainless steel plate and bolt it to the front bumper cover

Agreed. If they need more money for enforcement, increase the cost of fines so that the money comes from those that break the rules. Not those that abide by them.
