To all those member and non-members who are frustrated,

AMSA is an evolving organization that requires active participation from it's local and non-local members. Improvements are constantly being made, but like in all organization, change sometimes comes slow as it takes time for the acceptance of change.

It also requires that the members who share those frustrations and have new ideas, step forward and participate in the process. AMSA has many committees in operation that are always looking for assistance. You do not have to live local to participate on many of these committees.

I encourage all who have ideas to send the executive committee your thoughts and ideas. I also ask that all participate in all communication requests from AMSA such as survey, voting, etc. This is your opportunity to make a difference if you can not make the monthly meetings. Lastly, I encourage anyone who wishes to dedicate some time to preserving the privilege of access to Assateague Island National Seashore and having a voice in fishing regulations, run for a board position. Fresh ideas are always welcome.

Best wishes and Good Fishing!

i was told that all they really care about was the camporee . this was told to me by 2 different directors !!

who both by the way have also given up on them ..

also after the 'bashing' incident last year i received e-mails and pm's about how they were looking into changing the website and giving out more information about what was going on .

still hasn't happened .... and IMHO has gotten worse

yea , i really wish it would improve it would be nice to have a group who would fight for our beach acess locally i just don't see it happening . actions speek louder than words .

I have been a member for 5 or 6 years.I got real down on AMSA for a few months there and decided to drop out.The camporee, the bull pen issues, the fishing tourny, all seemed to gravitate towards camper fishermen only.I took a few shots at the club on SOL and actually didn`t pay my dues until I started thinking about things the club does to keep access for all of us.My eyes were opened by Allen Sklars post in the AMSA thread where they were getting beat down pretty good.I realized that the club is the only org.that has any relationship with the park service.I paid my dues for this year and will continue to do so.I retire in 5 years.I hope to be more active when I can be there more. The 3 hr drive keeps me from being involved.

Weather or not someone has had a good or bad experience with any organization and speaks his or hers mind about it is what this kind of forum is here to do, Hopfully the people that run the organizations hear what is being said so that people that are looking to join one have the best info they can get about that org. I my self have gone to the AMAS site and have found fore myself no real info there about what the the group does, only by talking to others in person or on line have I found out what they do I have heard some very good things, like how they once or twice a year go and clean the beach at AI (thank you and your members, as most people that fish and care about the beach that means something as anytime I go down I come home with more trash then I bring. anyway a great program. ) and I think you all put together a fishing day for kids( look at my signature enough said on that THUMBS UP TO YA ) and I'm sure there is more but you don't let us know in any way unless you talk to someone that is a member and you don't know about something until after it has happens most times, to me that is a problem that could be solved in and easy and timely manner by updating your site better.

Thank you and any other organization that does theys things

NOW I got to but in my 2 cents!!!!!!

End of quote.

well that is not what you had to say I read the post before you edited it and did not like how you handle yourself and by the way you edited your post it seams that you had second thoughts about what you said. Next time leave what you have said and just say that your sorry and spoke out of fustration we all know how that can happen but by deleting what you said with out any word but " no comment " does not work for me and this is anothe reason I will not join a group with people in it that handle themselfs in that manor sorry you did not like what you said but trying to hide it by deleting it DOES NOT WORK once you spoke your mind.

Maybe one day when things get better I will look back in to AMSA but I don't know when that day will come thanks to you ..

wow, this is taking a turn i didnt want or expect, it was just a simple question i asked due to the lack of info on the old amsa site. Sam is currently redoing the site to help get more info out there.
after talkin to jjohnson abuot he suggested that any members, and non-members, that wanted to know, just post on the amsa board. it might help them get an idea of what shoud be on the site
i gave him a few suggestions over the phone and i'll list them here.
1. bylaws, charter, ect
2. all projects the do
3. a list thier donations to ai
4. maybe a sign at the orv entrance/air pumps listing the amount of trash they pick up at ai
5. copy of the newsletter

Very good suggestions, Roger. I hope they can clear some things up in the near future.

AMSA was not just formed for camping on the beach, It was mainly formed to allow access to the beach with vehicles for the purpose of surf fishing because of all the gear used to surf fish and cars and pickup trucks had specially customized rims to allow baloon tires some, in fact most of the vehicles on the beach at the time were 2 wheel drive. They had to cross the bay by ferry. Just some info for you. # 244
