it's a big ocean and you have to cover all areas of the water column, so spreader bars on top and sub-surface, artificals and meat at various depths....Islanders are a good choice, not mine but may others swear by them, I use other brands of lures...I like Moldcraft "chuggers", Zukers, Boone Skirts and Sea Witches....
also check-out some of the new stuff at
Binnacle Custom Tackle as they have some pretty neat offshore tackle that shows alot of promise

and you can visit there "tackle booth" over at the
OC Fishing center starting today as they gear-up for this weekends tuna tournament
oh and make sure you pick-up a Thumb Dinger while your in
OC as it'll save your skin from that 100+lb Tuna your gonna' catch on thursday
