ok, so I'll let ben tell you all about his adventures. However when I showed up around 3:30 or so yesterday afternoon we got my lines in the water and yakked out. That boy has some serious mojo, within minutes of getting back from yakking all the baits out, I had a screamer on my TicaTeam st558 rod. I picked it up, leaned back and nothing.....That was the rest of the afternoon until right before sunset (several pickups and drops, good hits and Ben even got broke off by something) Several LARGE schools of bunker went through from 25' to 150' off the beach. They were so thick you could see all the rod tips bouncing around from fish running into the lines. So just before sunset My st558 starts running again, I pick it up and set the hook. The fish runs straight at the beach then sits still. I decided to throw my rod back in the holder (thought I'd lost the fish) 30 sec later it starts dancing and running agian. I belt up and start cranking line. Ended up with a 46" (fork length) sandbar. After that nothing was caught, but we had tons of hits/runs and misses. My st558 starts ripping line again sometime after midnight and I pick up to set the hook and the line goes slack....10 min later the same exact thing happened on my Penn Long Beach. There was a school of bunker going through at the time, I'm guessing a shark swam right through my line, wrapped itself up enough to pull for a min then slice through my line. All in all a great night on the sand, it got a little chilly for a while while the wind was blowing out of the SE
