April, 2008 Fishing Reports from Harbor Tackle
Harbor Tackle Fishing Report April 17, 2008
Not much to report just yet on the surf. I was told that a 38” striper was taken from Assateague Island on fresh bunker sometime last week (but not confirmed). Mostly it is dogfish and skates. Off the ocean pier are dogfish and a possible sighting of a spinner. A couple of weeks ago there were a few nice stripers in the south bay. Fishermen were using live eels and lures. In the thoroughfare flounder are being caught. It seems that my customers are getting the bigger flounder from the south bay. There are dogfish at the Rt. 50 Bridge. Last weekend a 32 inch striper was taken and rumored that another legal striper was hooked up. A 20 something flounder was caught off the Bridge one night last weekend. Sunday a customer of mine came in with a cooler full of nice tog. There were three men fishing and they caught their limit within 1 ½ hours over one of the wrecks in the ocean. My husband, Terry, was talking with someone that saw birds working the Inlet. They saw the birds taking 12 to 15 inch blues. I have heard rumors of a few blue being caught.
Harbor Tackle has fresh bunker, live eels, live minnows, live green crabs, and live black saltys.
