Angler Frank Mazza saved a bottle-nose dolphin that was entangled in a buoy line near Veatch Canyon.
Frank realized the dolphin was in trouble when he saw it's head above the water. Grabbing his snorkeling gear he jumped off the boat to aid the struggling dolphin.
Considering there were about a dozen loops around the dolphin's tail Frank thinks the eight-foot-long animal probably had knotted itself in the weighted rope.
At first, when Frank began to hold the dolphin's tail in order to free it by cutting the rope, it was anxious. Once it was free, it not only calmed down but seemingly in gratitude it stayed near Frank before swimming on its way.
Good job Frank
