I have seen on a couple other sites where people are using a zinc washer and epoxying it to the side plate and just sitting magnets on the washers. I am going to try that method. I'll let everyone know how it goes, sounds pretty easy.
Coop, I was going to do it when I got home that day you gave me the stuff to do it, but i remembered I didn't have a tap and die set. So I was going to buy one, but remembered I had to go to my brothers HS graduation in PA and my Dad has both a nice drill press and tap set, so when I go there this weekend I am taking the Avet with me and I am going to make sure it gets done right on the drill press.
I have used the Avet reel at the Choptank pier a couple times without any mags in it and i can cast it fine as long as I don't try and put any power behind the cast. As soon as I try and launch one I it starts to blow up mid flight and then its thumb burning time!
