the 6.0 was a joke and is not even in use anymore, it was doomed from the start and right now Ford and International Harvester(who supplies Ford wth the L/T diesel engines) are having a huge battle as to who is going to pay all these 6.0 warranty claims.
the 7.3 was the engine to have, but the fed/gov put new emmision laws into effect and the 7.3 couldn't cut it (so far, you can blame the feds). the Feds (& Ford) wanted a smog-friendly engine and that was the 6.4, which is in production now. the 6.0 was just a "filler" engine till the 6.4's could be put thru production. now the new 6.4 is also having some issues but thats usally the case wth everything new. I think you'll be safe in getting one now.
now, as a side note. the Cumming's diesel engine used by Dodge, well Cummings is owned by Ford but Ford choose to sell there engines to Dodge and Ford buy there engines form International Harvester, so it's a matter of who's in bed wth who and it's a BIG mess right now
