Default 5-7-07 Harbor Tackle Fishing Report

Harbor Tackle’s Fishing Report, May 7, 2007

The fishing action had picked up, but I wonder what these winds are doing now to the fish. On the surf there were plenty of skates for everyone’s enjoyment along with dogfish. Earlier in the week Tom Bradley caught a 35 inch blue from the beach. A 30” black drum was caught on Thursday. Friday and Saturday, more blues showed up along with a few stripers. A lot of blues were breaking on the outer bar. One fisherman reported taking 16 two foot blues from the surf. Saturday morning Sam called to report his and Ben's Friday evening outing. Ben took a 45 inch and 43 inch striper and Sam had a 40 inch striper. They caught lots of snapper blues and a 5 ft. dogfish. Scotty Wallace and Rob Jager caught their limit of legal stripers Saturday morning. The baits of choice for the beach were fresh bunker and chowder clams. The Rt. 50 Bridge had a little bit more action this week. Tuesday, Mike Kenny of Salisbury hooked up with a 17 ˝ inch flounder using bluefish for bait. Also, Tuesday evening a 39 inch striper was taken from the Bridge. Devon Fernandez fished hard on the Rt. 50 Bridge Friday night. He took a 29 inch and 30 inch striper along with a good sized blue. Reported are lots of bluefish around the Rt.50 Bridge and Inlet. 17 - 20 inch range blues were caught in the back bay behind Assateague. Anthony Stevenson of Baltimore caught a 26 inch tog bottom fishing over an ocean wreck on Saturday. The beauty was taken with clams. Flounder fishing has been good with most catches being around the Rt. 90 Bridge and the northern part of the Thorofare. A few nice tog were caught at 2nd and 4th Streets.

Harbor Tackle has fresh bunker, live chowder clams, live eels, live minnows, live green crabs, and live black saltys.
