I really enjoy reading these reports...sadly I have not been on Monty's boat in awhile. Gotta get it done! I really like that Monty is doing the conservation thing....I know a guy that just returned from Hatteras, fishing offshore for tuna. Those guys hammered them...and kept every single one.
This guy brought home 4 yellowfins!!!!!! Plenty to give to family/friends. He is now complaining that he doesn't have freezer space for all the tuna.
I am betting that only 1/3 of the catch will be eaten. BTW tuna is not very good frozen.I am old enough that I remember doing the very same thing, but now believe we have to be more careful. I plan on trying to do better on surf caught stripers...while I don't catch many I do enjoy fresh rockfish...I will try to release more fish in the future.
I applaud Monty for his efforts!
