Alright -- I'm coming down to
OC next week for family vacation. While there, I'm trying out one of my heavier spinning rod for sharks.
The question.... Living in northern
MD, I'm having some trouble getting terminal tackle at local stores to prep for my trip.
While at a store yesterday, I saw packs of wire leaders which had a swivel on one end and a snap lock on the other...
Has anyone here ever tried tying their shock leader (w/fishfinder rig on shocker) to the swivel and then attaching their hook to the snap lock on the other end of the wire leader ? If so...is it just a waste of time or will it do in a pinch (on a light shark -- not expecting it to hold on a 5/6 footer) Not sure if snap will come undone in the heat of the moment...
This setup is going to have to do until I get down there and get some wire rigs made up at a local store....
I've never crimped line / leader before and don't have the tools.
Just looking for some opinions ???
Thanks,
Excalibur
